Mis Hanes LGBT+

2il Chwefror 2021

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, has spoken to support LGBT+ History Month.

Jeff Cuthbert said: “LGBT+ History Month is an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on how far we have come as a society, and to celebrate the contribution that LGBT+ communities make here in Gwent.

“The social landscape has changed over the years. The country is now more accepting of people of all genders and sexualities but, although we are moving in the right direction, there is still much to be done.

“There are some people who still suffer appalling abuse and discrimination because of their gender identity or sexuality. I want to be clear that this will not be tolerated here in Gwent. If you have been a victim of a crime then I would urge you to report it.

“Help is available and my office supports services such as Umbrella Cymru that provide high quality emotional and practical support, information, and advocacy for LGBT+ victims of crime.

“I am committed to listening to the voices and concerns of Gwent’s LGBT+ residents. By working together, we can create a more cohesive community and a Gwent that is a safer and more inclusive place to live, work and visit.”
