The Commissioner is required to determine the budget for 2018-19 and then set the council tax precept in consultation with the Police and Crime Panel.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent has agreed to release £9,552.92 from reserves to fund a 6 month temporary full-time member of staff.

The Commissioner is responsible for approving the overall framework of accountability and control and monitoring compliance in relation to asset management as set out in the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent's Manual of Corporate Governance, paragraph 1.1.4.The Strategy was approved at the Strategy and Performance Board Meeting held on 22nd March 2018.

A review of the Manual of Corporate Governance is undertaken on an annual basis by the Strategic Planning Group. The Joint Audit Committee recommended approval of the amendments at their meeting held on 9th March 2017 before final approval was requested from the Commissioner and Chief Constable at the Strategy and Performance Board Meeting on 22nd March 2018.

In February 2017, the Police, Fire and Ambulance services, joined together to open an emergency services station with all three emergency services based within the same building (Abertillery Fire Station).

The contract is awarded for a two year period with an option to extend for two additional annual periods.
