Police and Crime Commissioner welcomes elected leaders to police HQ

15th June 2026

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has welcomed both new returning Members of the Senedd, and local authority leaders, to Gwent Police Headquarters as part of her ongoing engagement with Wales’s elected representatives.

The Commissioner was joined by Chief Constable Mark Hobrough, who provided members with a detailed briefing on policing across Gwent’s five local authority areas. The overview covered current demand on services, key operational priorities, and the challenges facing policing across the country.

Members were also given a guided tour of the force control room, which handles emergency 999 calls and non‑emergency reports. The visit provided an opportunity to see first-hand how officers and staff work to keep communities safe and respond to incidents quickly and effectively.

Speaking after the visit, Jane Mudd said: “It was a pleasure to meet personally with Gwent’s Members of the Senedd and to have the opportunity to fully brief them on the current policing picture across the region. Open and honest discussions like this are vital in ensuring our elected representatives understand both the pressures facing policing and the work being done to protect our communities.

“My team and I work very closely with Wales’s elected representatives and their teams, and it is important that, whichever party they represent, we continue to work together constructively in the best interests of the people we serve.”
