Commissioner backs the Big Help Out Pontypool

15th June 2026

More than 60 volunteers braved the wind and rain to take part in this year’s Big Help Out in Pontypool.

Supported by the Police and Crime Commissioner, volunteers carried out activities throughout Pontypool Park and the town centre. This included litter picking, clearing pavements and walkways, and tidying up the town’s memorials and public spaces.

The Big Help Out is a national campaign that aims to encourage more people to volunteer and actively support their local communities.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I would like to thank the volunteers for their dedication and hard work as part of the Big Help Out.

“Every hour spent volunteering makes a meaningful difference. Without the generosity, commitment and dedication of volunteers, our communities would be significantly poorer.

“Their contribution helps build community cohesion, strengthens bonds between residents, and creates safer, more resilient places for everyone, both now and for future generations.”
