Young people give their views on Gwent Police
My team are working with a group of young people from Cwmbran to better understand their perceptions of Gwent Police.
Breaking down barriers between communities and the police is crucial, and this work is helping us to understand young people’s personal experiences of policing and also how they feel when they interact with officers.
Their feedback will be collated and reviewed, and will help shape the way the work of Gwent Police and my own office going forward. This is one of the ways that we are ensuring that children and young people have their voices heard.
Cwmbran Centre for Young People currently receives money from my community fund to keep the youth centre open and available to young people in the evenings. It is ideally placed to give young people a safe and secure place to go in the town centre where they can socialise, take part in activities and access a whole range of support that will help them with their education or employment.
