We will remember them

I was honoured today to lay a wreath at Gwent Police’s headquarters in remembrance of all those who have lost their lives in conflict since the first world war.

Many residents of Gwent, including serving police officers who were drafted into service, lost their lives in the two world wars.

Conflict across the world has continued to touch our communities in the years since 1945. Gwent is home to many veterans who have risked lives fighting for our freedom. Sadly, many others never returned home.

I would like to take a moment and thank those veterans, and their families, for the important service they have given to their country.

We will remember them.
