Tackling bike theft across Gwent

3rd February 2023

Gwent Police’s We Don’t Buy Crime team has been busy this month, running events to ensure that people register their bikes with a national scheme that will help keep them safe.

Throughout January the team have registered more than 60 bikes with Bike Register, a UK wide database that allows police forces across the country to search and cross reference stolen bikes.

Initiatives like this help to disrupt the criminal supply chain and make bikes a less desirable target for thieves, and we have seen a notable drop in bike thefts in recent months as a result.

It is just one way the team is working to keep communities in Gwent safe. For more information visit the Gwent Police website.
