PCC welcomes new officers

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has welcomed the latest batch of recruits to join Gwent Police.

The Commissioner met the 48 new officers at Gwent Police headquarters in Cwmbran this week as they begin their first week of formal training.

The officers will undergo several months of classroom learning and practical training before being deployed to policing teams across Gwent’s five counties in 2027.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “Choosing to serve as a police officer is a significant commitment to the public and to our communities.

“These new recruits can take great pride in the important role they are preparing to undertake, supporting people, strengthening communities and helping to keep residents across Gwent safe.

“I wish every officer well with their training and look forward to seeing the positive contribution they make in our communities across Gwent.”
