PCC joins residents to celebrate reopening of community church
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd joined residents for the grand reopening of The House – the home of Bethel Community Church - in Newport.
The church was devastated by a fire in 2018 and has been undergoing an extensive period of restoration ever since.
Community members came together to celebrate the official reopening at a special event on Saturday September 28.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It was lovely to join residents for the reopening of The House. The building dates back to the late 1800s; it is an important part of Newport’s heritage, and we are so fortunate not to have lost it.
“The church serves as a hub for the whole community and helps to support Newport’s refugees among the many other services it provides to residents across the city. It was fantastic to see so many members of the local community coming together to celebrate its reopening.”
