National Police Memorial Day
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd joined the Chief Constable of Gwent Police and colleagues to honour officers who have died in the line of duty.
Policing colleagues and families gathered for a special ceremony at Gwent Police headquarters in Cwmbran on Tuesday 29 September.
The national day of remembrance was established following the death of Kent Police officer Jon Odell in 2000. It provides an opportunity to commemorate those who have lost their lives and recognise the bravery and commitment of police officers across the UK.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “National Police Memorial Day is a time to remember and pay tribute to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the course of their duty.
“It also brings into sharp focus the dangers officers face each day while protecting our communities. I offer my sincere thanks to every serving and former police officer for their dedication and for all they have done, and continue to do, to keep people safe.”
