Engineers working on Gwent Police’s new headquarters at the Llantarnam Industrial Estate in Cwmbran have been keeping the local area clean with a number of litter picks around the site.

The team from BAM construction were joined by some of their local contractors to litter pick along the streets and roads surrounding the new building, which is due to open later in the year.

Once open the new site will accommodate 480 police officers and staff, and will be home to the control room, which is the first point of contact for calls to the force, alongside major crime teams, training functions, support services and senior management.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jeff Cuthbert said: “I would like to thank the team from BAM for helping to keep the local area clean and tidy.

“I have been greatly impressed by the way they have worked to minimise disruption to residents and local businesses during construction, and to give back to the community by supporting Coleg Gwent’s engineering students, and using local suppliers where possible.”

Jess Morgan, Social Value Manager at BAM Construction, said: “In partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, it was a pleasure to team up with FP Hurley to ensure that the welfare areas and site surroundings are kept clean and tidy, which is vitally important to BAM’s delivery of social value and promotion of local wellbeing.”
