Bold and ambitious leadership to meet the ever-changing demands of our communities

9th July 2021

This week I was delighted to see Caerphilly County Borough Council and Gwent Police joining forces to launch an innovative joint leadership programme aimed at developing a new generation of bold and innovative leaders to enhance public service provision across Gwent.

The initiative, called ‘MeUs’, was launched on Wednesday 7 July by Jane Hutt, Minister for Social Justice. I was very pleased to be one of the speakers at the Launch.

MeUs was created by the chief executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council Christina Harrhy and Chief Constable Pam Kelly. We all share an aspiration to develop an ambitious leadership programme to ensure senior managers are equipped with the highest levels of skills and competencies.

Eight employees from across both organisations will form the first-ever cohort to take part in the programme – four from Caerphilly council and four from Gwent Police.

It is hoped very much that this initiative will be taken up by all local authorities and other public services across Gwent.
