How to request a review of a complaint dealt with by Gwent Police

If your complaint has been recorded under Schedule 3 of the Police Reform Act 2002, you have the right to request a review of the outcome of your complaint. The letter you receive from Gwent Police with the outcome of your complaint will tell you who you need to submit your review request to. This request must be made within 28 days of being sent the written outcome of your complaint. The OPCC however may extend this time period if we are satisfied that it is just to do so, based on the circumstances of the case.

The review will consider whether the outcome of the handling of your complaint is reasonable and proportionate.

If you wish to request a review please complete the appropriate form and send it to the PCC by:
Email: commissioner@gwent.police.uk
In writing to:

Chief Executive
Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
Police Headquarters

Please note: All review requests must be made in writing.

Detailed information on what personal data will be shared with our external service provider can be found in our privacy notice.

Once the OPCC has reviewed your complaint, there will be no further right of review. If you do not believe the review has been dealt with in accordance with the law, then you could consider a judicial review. A judicial review will not overturn the outcome of your review.
