Welsh Government to fund new Community Support Officers

26th August 2021

The Welsh Government has announced it will fund 100 new Police Community Support Officers in Wales.

This includes 20 new posts that will work across the Gwent region.

The additional 100 PCSOs brings the total funded by the Welsh Government to 600.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jeff Cuthbert said: “Community Support Officers are the link between the police and our communities, helping to develop trust and building greater community cohesion across Gwent. It is not an easy job and PCSOs are often supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

“These new officers will be a welcome addition to Gwent Police and a great asset to our communities."
