Torfaen volunteer recognised with award
I was delighted to sponsor this year’s Torfaen Community and Voluntary Awards.
These awards recognise the amazing contributions that volunteers have played in our communities throughout the pandemic.
I was pleased to sponsor the ‘Personal Journey’ award, which was awarded to Chloe Goddard, a volunteer at Torfaen Youth Service’s Young Parent’s Project.
Torfaen Youth Service’s Young Parent Project is a weekly session that specifically focuses on supporting young parents using youth led approaches to address areas of social support, physical activity, play and welfare for both parents and children.
Chloe has been supporting youth workers to organising and plan the programme, encouraging and supporting young people to take part in positive activities, addressing issues such as loneliness, lack of employment and support, and self-esteem.
Through her volunteering she has grown as a person and I am delighted to hear that she will now be furthering her own education and has been attending training sessions in youth work. I would like to thank her for everything she has done for young parents in Torfaen, and with her all the best for the future.
