Police and Crime Commissioner supports EYST youth awards

11th December 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd joined young people in Newport for the annual EYST Youth Awards.

The Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team supports ethnic minority people and communities across Wales. Its youth awards celebrate the talent, resilience, and spirit of the young people it works with.

The Police and Crime Commissioner supports EYST through her Community Fund, which enables the organisation to run weekly youth clubs for children and young people in Maindee and Pillgwenlly. These clubs provide a safe space in the evenings, where youth workers also help with physical and mental health, schoolwork, and offer guidance and support.

Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It was a pleasure to join our partners at EYST and celebrate the incredible achievements of some truly inspiring children and young people. I was honoured to present awards that recognise their hard work and success.

“EYST plays a vital role in communities across Gwent, offering children and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds a safe and welcoming space where they can find support, guidance, and enjoy time with friends.

“Congratulations to all the award recipients and a huge thank you to the dedicated youth workers whose positive impact continues to strengthen our communities.”
