The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent has considered and agreed his preferred option in relation to changes to the Police Complaints Reform introduced by the Policing and Crime Act 2017.

The Police and Crime Act 2017 includes changes to the police complaints system with Police and Crime Commissioners being given the opportunity to take on more responsibility in this area. The Act provided three options for Police and Crime Commissioner to consider and having reviewed the options carefully the Commissioner has chosen the mandatory option, Model 1; giving him enhanced oversight of the complaints system and responsibility for handling appeals (reviews).
