Young people in Cwmbran celebrate Black History Month
Young people from the Cwmbran Centre for Young People (CCYP) celebrated Black History Month throughout October.
They learnt about successful black people from across Wales, writing up pen portraits on those they found most inspiring. They also created artwork which will be placed on display at the centre.
Black History Month is an important opportunity to recognise the contributions that black people have made to the UK over many generations, and I am pleased to see these young people engaging with the subject so well.
I currently support CCYP through my community fund, enabling the centre to employ youth workers to run evening drop-in sessions during the week for young people.
These sessions are making a real difference in the local community, and to the lives of many young people, and I would like to take the opportunity to commend the team at CCYP for their hard work.
