Police and Crime Commissioner welcomes new students

5th February 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has visited Gwent Police’s latest student police officers to welcome them to the force.

Commissioner Mudd met with 24 new recruits as they began their training in Cwmbran. The recruits include a mix of regular officers and fast-track detectives.

Once they have completed their training they will be deployed to support Gwent Police teams across the region.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I was really pleased to meet with the new recruits as they start their training with Gwent Police and to find out a little about them, and their reasons for wanting to join the force.

“By pursuing a career as a police officer they are showing a real commitment to public service and a dedication to Gwent’s communities. It is a job that is not to be taken lightly, and officers will often face dangerous and distressing incidents daily.

“These recruits have a challenging, but very rewarding, career ahead of them and I look forward to following their progress.”
