Police and Crime Commissioner supports EYST Wales Youth Awards
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jane Mudd, joined partners and children and young people for the annual EYST Wales Youth Awards.
EYST, which stands for Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team, supports ethnic minority people and communities across Wales. It’s youth awards, held in Newport and Torfaen, celebrate the talent, resilience, and spirit of the young people that it works with.
The Police and Crime Commissioner supports EYST through her community fund. The funding enables the organisation to run a weekly youth club for children and young people in the Maindee area of Newport, giving them a safe space to go in the evenings. Youth workers will also work with the young people on things such as physical and mental health, and support them with school work.
Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I was delighted to join our partners at EYST to hear some inspiring stories about the achievements of some remarkable children and young people, and to give out some awards to recognise these achievements.
“EYST is working in our communities across Gwent to support children and young people from ethnic minority communities, giving them a safe space and a safe face where they can turn to for help, support, and to have fun with their friends.
“Congratulations to everyone who received an award, and all the youth workers for the positive contribution they are making to our communities.”
