Penygarn pupils put their questions to Commissioner
Children from Penygarn Primary School in Pontypool have been putting their questions to Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd.
The children, who are all members of the school’s Heddlu Bach (Mini Police) unit, grilled the Commissioner about her role and the work she has been doing since she was elected last year.
There are now more than 150 Heddlu Bach units in schools across Gwent. The scheme gives children and opportunity to learn about policing, take part in activities, and encourages them to play an active part in their community.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It was lovely to meet with the children from the Heddlu Bach at Penygarn Primary School and answer their questions. They certainly put me through my paces! There were some fantastic questions and I was pleased to see how deeply they cared about their community.
“The Heddlu Bach is a fantastic scheme that encourages children to learn new skills and work for the benefit of their community, while also building trust and confidence in the police. Most importantly, the children are all having lots of fun at the same time.”
