PCC welcomes Welsh Government support for shop workers at Christmas

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has welcomed the Welsh Government’s  statement of support for shop workers over the Christmas period.

Commissioner Mudd said: “I welcome the Welsh Government’s statement of support for shopworkers over Christmas and its backing of the joint campaign by the Welsh Retail Consortium and USDAW union to encourage customers to be kind to shop workers.

“I have personally been out and about in Gwent over the last few weeks to show my support for USDAW, and have been speaking to workers about the things they have experienced.

“There is simply no excuse for violence and abuse towards our shop workers and I would urge retailers to report instances directly to Gwent Police.”
