PCC meets with animal welfare volunteers
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has met with the dedicated volunteers who ensure Gwent's police dogs are being well looked after.
Animal welfare visitors are responsible for regular checks on Gwent’s police dogs while they are at work, and when at home with their handlers. They ensure the animals are happy, healthy, and that all their needs are being met.
The scheme is overseen by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and has received certification from the Dogs Trust for the quality of the service delivered by volunteers.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “Gwent’s police dogs play an incredibly important role in keeping as all safe. We ask a lot of them, and it is important that in turn we make sure they are well looked after.
“Our animal welfare visitors provide an extra layer of scrutiny and support, making sure that our police dogs, which are so loved by the people of Gwent, are happy and healthy.”
