PCC joins Monmouthshire Housing Association’s White Ribbon Day event

29th November 2024

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd joined partners at Monmouthshire Housing Association’s quarterly Breakfast Club meeting for a special session to coincide with White Ribbon Day.

The session formally launched MHA’s programme of work towards gaining its Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance accreditation, and guests heard from a range of speakers working to support women, girls, and victims of abuse in Monmouthshire.

The Breakfast Club sessions aim to bring staff together to learn more about specific issues that enable them to better support their residents.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I was really pleased to be able to speak to the staff at Monmouthshire Housing Association and to support their work to become accredited with the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance.

“Each year, at least one in every 12 women and girls in the UK is the victim of violence or abuse. This means about 25,000 women and girls will be subjected to violent and abusive behaviour in our communities every year.

“Housing associations have a close relationship with their residents, and it is really important that their staff are able to recognise the signs of abuse, and know where to turn for support.”
