PCC invests more than £1.2m into community projects

20th March 2026

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has invested more than £1.2m into community projects across Gwent during 2025 – 2026.

The Commissioner has supported 22 projects, many of which provide help and support to children and young people who are either at risk of becoming involved in crime and antisocial behaviour, or who have been victims of crime.

These projects support the objectives set out in the Commissioner’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan, and are funded using money recovered from the proceeds of crime. Community groups can submit a bid to the Commissioner’s Community Fund for amounts ranging from £1,000 to £50,000 to support their initiatives.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I know from speaking to our citizens that they want to live in safer, stronger communities where they feel supported and protected. They want us to address the root causes of crime and provide meaningful support for those who are most vulnerable.

“These values form the pillars of my Police, Crime and Justice Plan, but they are wider societal challenges and not something the police can solve on their own.

“Our communities often know what’s most needed to address the issues in their area, and to develop projects and initiatives they need the right support. I’m proud to be investing in that potential, using money recovered from criminal activity to help build a fairer, safer society.”
