PCC impressed by work of the Senghenydd Youth Drop in Centre (SYDIC)
During his election campaign the Commissioner viewed a presentation on the work of the Drop-in Centre and was impressed by the range of activities it offers to young people.
The centre provides a range of services and activities for young people, 12 hours a day on most days of the week. These activities include out-of-school activities, drugs and alcohol advice, guidance and support. The centre also provides performance and visual arts and crafts including dance, music, pottery, painting and poetry.
Mr Johnston said: "The SYDIC is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when the community pulls together to engage with young people.
"I appreciate the financial difficulties and challenges they face and at the AGM I was pleased to give them my commitment to help ensure the excellent work carried out at the centre continues."
