PCC announces new funding for community groups

17th October 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd is investing more than half a million pounds into community initiatives that support her Police, Crime and Justice Plan for Gwent.

The Commissioner has announced new funding for projects that tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, support victims and vulnerable people, and build community cohesion.

Community groups, charities, social enterprises, and organisations with a community focus, can apply to one of three funding streams:

  • Commissioner’s Partnership Fund - Grants of up to £1,000 to enable grassroots organisations to deliver community-led activities.
  • Commissioner’s Community Fund - Grants between £1,000 - £50,000 to enable organisations to deliver sustained projects, prioritising support for children and young people.
  • Commissioner’s Community Engagement Fund - Grants of up to £5,000 to support projects that build community cohesion, and trust and confidence in public services.

In addition, the Commissioner has also contributed £65,000 to the Gwent High Sheriff’s fund, which supports small community projects across the region.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “People across Gwent have told me they want to live in safer, stronger communities where everyone feels supported and protected. They want action that addresses the root causes of crime and meaningful support for those who are most vulnerable. These values are at the heart of my Police, Crime and Justice Plan, but they are not challenges that policing can solve alone.

“Our communities hold the power to create lasting change, and they are often best placed to lead the way. To do so, they need the right support and I’m proud to be investing in that potential, and using money recovered from criminal activity to help build a fairer, safer society.

“If you have a project that can help reduce crime or antisocial behaviour, support vulnerable people, or bring communities together to build trust and confidence I want to hear from you. Together, we can make a real difference.”
