Passing out parade for new special constables
I was delighted to join a group of new special constables and their families for their passing out parade this week. The passing out parade marks the completion of their training, and they will now be deployed to support Gwent Police’s regular officers.
Volunteer police officers provide Gwent Police with an extra layer of resilience that helps the force to fulfil its commitment to protect and reassure the public. Just like regular officers they work under immense pressure and incredibly difficult circumstances, often putting themselves at great personal risk. They give their own personal time to do this, on top of their day jobs and family commitments, and this dedication to public service must be commended.
These new recruits have worked hard and showed real commitment to making a difference to our communities in Gwent. I wish them all the best for the future.
