Liswerry Primary School pupils put Commissioner in the hotseat

3rd April 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd was put in the hotseat by pupils from Liswerry Primary School’s Heddlu Bach unit.

The Commissioner was asked a wide range of questions from ‘What’s your favourite and least favourite part of your role?’ to ‘What is being done to tackle gang crime in Gwent?’

During the session pupils discussed areas of their community where they felt safest and also shared some of the areas where they felt unsafe.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Jane Mudd said: “I was really impressed by the maturity of the pupils and the breadth of topics we discussed.

“They were keen to understand how I and Gwent Police are going to address issues such as gang crime, knife crime and cybercrime. Listening to them talk openly about these issues has reinforced by determination to do what I can to tackle them in our communities.

“My newly launched Police, Crime and Justice plan sets out how I will aim to make Gwent a safer place for our residents. This includes enhancing neighbourhood policing, and increasing the visibility of officers and PCSOs, which I believe will make a real difference to our communities.”
