Listening to children in Tredegar
Our Safe Spaces workshops continued this week with a visit to Deighton Primary School in Tredegar.
The workshops aim to educate children and young people while providing my office, Gwent Police and partner organisations insight into any issues pupils may have.
Children shared their thoughts, feelings and concerns about issues in their communities. I was pleased to hear that most children felt very safe in their communities and that they were very knowledgeable on their rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Police and Crime Commissioners have a responsibility to engage with the public and this is one of the ways that we can ensure we are enabling children and young people to have their voices heard.
