International Women’s Day
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has attended events across Gwent to mark International Women’s Day.
The annual event aims to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness of discrimination, and promote a more equitable and inclusive society.
This year’s theme was Accelerate Action, which emphasises the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It is important to me that my granddaughters grow up in a society where everyone is treated equitably and their gender is not a barrier to them in their education, career or family life.
“I am proud to have been one of only a few female council leaders in Wales, and now Gwent’s first female Police and Crime Commissioner. I intend to use all the powers available to me to work with Gwent Police and wider partners to accelerate action and improve the experience of women and girls here in Gwent.
“I will shortly launch my Police, Crime and Justice Plan, which will include a strong focus on support for women and girls, and I will be making significant investments to enable me to deliver this plan for the people of Gwent, and make a difference to our communities.”
