Cwmbran Soroptimist Club
This week my Deputy Eleri Thomas was asked to speak at the Cwmbran Soroptimist Club about the work we are doing to protect women and girls here in Gwent. Members were also keen to understand how they can help to keep women and girls safe in their own communities.
One of the key actions that we can all take is to ensure that we stand up to harassment when we see it. This needn’t be confrontational, it can be subtle, but having a meaningful impact on those experiencing it.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is doing some really good work in this area, delivering free online training sessions to upskill and empower people to help diffuse situations, discourage harassers and support victims. If you are interested in finding out more, I advise you to take a look on the Suzy Lamplugh Trust webpage.
You can also report issues of concern to Gwent Police or seek support through the Welsh Government’s Live Fear Free service, or directly with support services.
