Commissioner takes questions from children and young people
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has been taking questions from children across Newport during a series of question-and-answer sessions with primary school pupils.
Children from years five and six at Crindau, Glasllwch, Maindee and Malpas Court primary schools researched the role of the Commissioner prior to the visit as part of a project for their Heddlu Bach or school council sessions.
They asked questions on a range of subjects including the role and responsibilities of a Police and Crime Commissioner, her priorities for policing, and her hopes and aspirations for the future.
Commissioner Mudd said: “Personally engaging with children and young people is vital to help me understand what issues are important to them. There have been many thought-provoking questions from the children that have really made me stop and think.
“In my new Police, Crime and Justice Plan I have committed to creating a children and young people’s charter that will help to steer the work of my office going forward. This will be co-produced with children and young people and will influence the services we provide and projects we commission.
“I look forward to starting this work shortly and am excited to be working with children and young people from across Gwent to make a difference for our communities.”
