Commissioner praises youth drop in centre
During a recent visit to a half term graffiti workshop session funded by the Police Community Fund and Aber Valley Community Council, the Commissioner witnessed the impact activities on young people who attend the centre.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Jeff Cuthbert said: “I have supported Senghenydd Youth Drop In Centre for over 20 years, it is very close to my heart.
“I was really pleased to see how engaged and enthusiastic young people were in the graffiti workshop. It was apparent they were enjoying the freedom of being with their peers and the creativity of the session.
“In recent months, young people have suffered lockdown after lockdown and have been isolated through no fault of their own.
“They need the support of organisations such as this more than ever, to provide a safe place to meet away from the dangers of the streets and grow as individuals.”
The Police and Community Fund offers support to groups and organisations across Gwent to help divert children and young people from a life of crime. For more information: https://www.gwent.pcc.police.uk/en/what-we-spend/commissioning/police-community-fund/
