Coleg Gwent wellbeing event

This week my team supported Coleg Gwent’s wellbeing and progression fair at Torfaen Learning Zone in Cwmbran.

These events are a good opportunity to speak to learners about a range of issues, allow them to raise anything that may be concerning them, and to offer crime prevention advice.

We are currently engaging with children and young people about their perceptions of the police, aiming to understand how they feel when they see police officers in their communities and the reasons behind these feelings.

We also want to hear from young people about their experiences of dealing with police officers and how this has shaped their opinions.

All of this information is collated, reviewed, and helps to shape the work of Gwent Police and my own office going forward. It is one of the ways we are enabling children and young people to have their say on policing in their communities.
