Chief constable announces retirement plan
The Chief Constable of Gwent Police, Pam Kelly, has announced plans to retire later this year.
Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, said: "I would like to thank Pam Kelly for her service to Gwent Police and also acknowledge her many years of service in Dyfed-Powys Police. In particular, the way in which she guided Gwent Police through the unprecedented times of the Covid-19 pandemic, something we could not have foreseen when I appointed her in 2019.
“Together, I believe we have achieved a lot. This will be a year of change for policing here in Gwent and this announcement will allow the new Commissioner to begin the process to appoint a new Chief Constable and ensure there is a smooth transition when Chief Constable Kelly retires."
