Celebrating Caerphilly Pride

I was proud to march with partners from many different organisations at the first Caerphilly Pride event this weekend.

It was a really positive event, and it was fantastic to see the community coming to together and enjoying themselves.

I was sad to hear from many of the people I spoke to during the day that they had experienced regular hate crime in their lives.

This is a horrible offence that can do lasting damage to victims and will not be tolerated.
 
I would urge anyone who is the victim of a hate crime to report it to the police.

Gwent Police has dedicated hate crime support officers who are specially trained to respond to reports of hate. The police’s victim care unit will ensure that victims are supported from their first report all the way through their criminal justice journey.
