  • Please can you confirm if you are planning on refurbishing and then re opening the custody unit at Maindee Police Station? Are any other custody units across the Force area being refurbished?

I can confirm that whilst Maindee Police station remains as a key operational asset, there is no plan to reopen or refurbish the custody suite within the station.

In relation to the Force's two current custody suites at Newport Central and Ystrad Mynach - Newport Central will be undergoing planned refurbishment works during this Autumn and, following completion of that work, Ystrad Mynach will be receiving upgraded CCTV provision.
