About the Chief Finance Officer

The Chief Finance Officer is Darren Garwood-Pask.

Biography

Darren Garwood-Pask began his career in 1990 with the Welsh Office (now the Welsh Government) and undertook a number of financial roles within this Central Government Department, before leaving to join the University Hospital of Wales in 1998 as the Senior Planning and Costing Accountant. He then moved to the Environment Agency (Wales) in 2000 as the Head of Management Accounting, becoming their Chief Accountant in 2002. Darren joined Gwent Police in 2005 as the Head of Finance, becoming the Head of Finance and Business Support in 2010. In May 2013, he became the Chief Finance Officer to the Commissioner leading on Finance, Commissioning, Estate, Fleet and Procurement.

Darren is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management. In addition, he is a vice president of the Police And Crime Commissioners Treasurers Society (PACCTS) and is the PACCTS lead on the Police ICT Company, the Emergency Services Network (ESN) Transition, PACCTS Futures Group and has oversight of Home Office ICT Charges.

From the Regional perspective, Darren is the Finance lead for the Early Action Together Programme and an active member of the Welsh Police Finance and Resources Group.

Darren was born in Cardiff and currently lives there with his wife, two sons and daughter.
